Alison’s own Yoga story started over 20 years ago with a chance Yoga session at the local gym. As a young Mum of two she was feeling the usual stresses and exhaustion. When the lovely yoga teacher said the words “now Exhale”, Alison knew she had found her passion. That A-ha moment of release was the time of her connection with Yoga. That feeling has stayed with her and she now loves to share that experience with her students.
Alison trained in Vinyasa in 2013 with Being Yoga in Maroochydore. She has continued her training with various workshops at Radiant Light Yoga and more recently completed the 30hr Restorative Yoga Teacher Training with Lizzie Lasater.
Alison’s classes reflect these different styles and teachings, alignment based with heart centred gentleness and compassion. Alison loves to see her students modify the postures for their own bodies, and offers variations to suit most practitioners. Whether it’s a flowing Vinyasa class or the bliss of a Restorative yoga practice, Alison has a caring and inclusive approach to teaching Yoga.
In 2012 Shanyn completed her Level 1 Discovery with Nicky Knoff from Knoff Yoga in Gladstone. Knoff Yoga is a beautiful blend of Iyengar alignment and the flow of Ashtanga whilst activating the internal heating element of Bikram.
Shanyn is a daily practitioner of the Ashtanga system - primary series. Keeping up self study with workshops over the years with the likes of; Tam James from Yogaphysio Brisbane, Santina Giardina Chard from In San Yoga Gold Coast, Kinergetics certification and Yoga massage.
Shanyn teaches what she has learnt and has come to the Yoga system to heal. Shanyn respects the person who dives deeper into their truth rather than just the superficial mask that has been handed to them. Vulnerability is the key. Take the mask off and all is revealed. Sad, happy, positive, negative, skillful, unskillful, good, bad... we'll find the light.
